Sarasota seminar - A great learning experience! Sept. 23-25, 2005
We were pleased to have another successful event in Sarasota. We wholeheartedly thank our event host: Sarasota Yacht Club and Tony & Sandie Piano!
LLGF Fishing Report: 9/25/2005
Mad Snooker Charters/Capt. Rachel Nobbe: Three women released 5 snook and also black grouper and a needle fish. They enjoyed being on an all-ladies boat and learning the strategy of finding fish.
The Mad Snooker/Capt. Dave Pomerleau: The ladies had a riot, with three ladies releasing six snook. They also reeled in jacks and a grouper and learned net casting. "It was great for us to be together, and away for husbands and children for a change!" they commented.
Capt. Pete Greenan: Lisa Hermanns, Pinellas Park, FL caught a redfish, and the ladies said they had more experience and confidence after the trip.
They also learned casting techniques and how to look for baitfish.
Stuffer/Capt. Richard Nutter: Running out twelve miles and anchoring in 40 feet of water, all of the ladies caught mangrove snapper. The fight went from easy to tough when they tossed in a blue runner bait and hooked something huge. The ladies took turns fighting it until it got away. "It was a hoot!" said Joe Ann O'Hara, Sarasota, FL.
Shark: Six ladies caught at least 14 grouper, as well as some snappers.
Sue Whitehurst, Sarasota, FL had the thrill of reeling in a 3 foot shark.
The Flying Fish: Grunts were abundant and the ladies enjoyed the camaraderie.
Recipe contest winner: CRISPY FISH FILLETS by Mickey Baumgartner, Naples, FL
The recipes were in the class book - watch for them in the cookbook which is in progress!
